Sedation

Do you feel nervous every time you think about seeing the dentist?  Have you put off treatment because of your anxiety?

Our team at Rolling Hills Dental Clinic, PC can provide you with high quality care to help overcome your dental anxiety.  Dental anxiety is a common concern.  Like many people, you may feel nervous about your dental care.  You might have trouble sleeping the night before an appointment, or even experience an increased heart rate as you drive to your appointment.

Our dentists and staff work hard to put you at ease and make your treatment as efficient and easy as possible.  Thanks to Dr. Nick and Dr. Maria's skill and gentle approach, most patients do not require extra sedation.  However, we do have options to further alleviate your anxieties.

  • Nitrous Oxide: Also known as "laughing gas" is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.  It is not intended to put you to sleep, allowing you to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have.  As you breathe it in, you will experience a sense of relaxation.  The effect of nitrous oxide wears off quickly, so you can drive yourself home after treatment.
  • Sedative Pill:  Alternatively, our dentists may prescribe anti-anxiety medications to take at home before your appointment. These medications simply soothe your nerves.  With this choice, you will need to find someone to drive you to and from your appointment.

Dr. Nick and Dr. Maria will help you select the one that is best for you, depending on your procedure, anxiety level, and other health needs.  No matter which you choose, we will make sure you remain calm and relaxed during your entire visit.
